Historical Context
Editorially reviewedKenmon Shokamon (c. 1467–1470) is an album of drawings; type-names are later labels. Its Yanada ‘sanbon omodaka’ plate is contested: later Yanada usage and Kantō makuchūmon read the same house as mizuaoi, so the Kenmon label may be wrong. Hatsujo kassenki records Shiina omodaka as a safer early textual kamon. Edo named cuts—Mōri daki Nagato-omodaka, Fukushima-omodaka, Mizuno water types—are later and must not be substituted for tachi-omodaka.
Provenance: Keep the tachi-omodaka hedge: Kenmon’s Yanada sanbon omodaka may be mislabelled mizuaoi (later Yanada maru-ni mizuaoi; Kantō makuchūmon Yanada sanbon mizuaoi). A safer early textual pairing is Hatsujo kassenki’s Shiina omodaka. Mizuno water types are later Edo cuts, not this type.

Kenmon Shokamon (見聞諸家紋; also called Higashiyama-dono Gomonchō), c. 1467–1470. Muromachi album of drawings of warrior-house marks. Motif type-names on the drawings are later catalogue labels, not Muromachi captions written with the original plates.
Supports: Supports a Yanada plate later labelled sanbon omodaka, which must be hedged because the same house is elsewhere read as mizuaoi; Kenmon names are later labels, not settled botanical captions.
Hatsujo kassenki (初序合戦記)
Hatsujo kassenki (初序合戦記), early textual source recording Shiina omodaka as a kamon.
Supports: Supports a safer early textual pairing of omodaka with Shiina, preferred over treating the contested Kenmon Yanada plate as settled tachi-omodaka evidence.
Kantō makuchūmon (関東幕中紋)
Kantō makuchūmon (関東幕中紋), later listing that gives Yanada sanbon mizuaoi rather than omodaka.
Supports: Supports the hedge that Yanada’s three-stalk plant mark is read as mizuaoi in this listing, against an unqualified Kenmon omodaka identification.
