Historical Context
Editorially reviewedKenmon Shokamon is a Muromachi album of house-paired drawings; the type-name futatsu-hikiryō is a later catalogue label, not a caption written on the plate. A Kamakura start for Ashikaga futatsu-hikiryō is often claimed in later monshōgaku but was not sourced to a Kamakura primary in the Historian pass, so this type is held here from the Muromachi album through Edo named usage, not from an unsourced Kamakura flag.
Provenance: Kenmon Shokamon (c. 1467–1470) already separates Ashikaga two-bar, with paulownia on the shogunal plate, from Miura tate-mitsu-hikiryō. Later monshōgaku claims of a Kamakura start for Ashikaga futatsu-hikiryō were not tied to a Kamakura primary in the Historian pass.

Supports: Attests hikiryō as a dominant drawing class and already uses bar count and orientation to distinguish Ashikaga two-bar from Miura vertical three-bar (tate-mitsu-hikiryō). Type-name 二つ引き両 is a later label.
