Historical Context

Kenmon Shokamon (c. 1467–1470) already draws tsuki-boshi as a house-paired type (Tsunoda among the named plates). The type-name 月星 is a later label on that drawing. Standalone mikazuki is not treated as the default of this slot: a clean standalone mikazuki caption was not found on the NDL-copy name-list, so crescent remains a subtype that needs its own drawing. The public period is Muromachi–Edo for the Kenmon-attested moon-and-star type, not a Heian celestial caption.

Provenance: Kenmon Shokamon attests 月星 (tsuki-boshi), including a Tsunoda pairing. The NDL-copy name-list did not yield a clean standalone mikazuki caption in the Historian pass. Neighbouring Kenmon moon drawings (nichi-getsu; moon-on-fan; moon-and-cloud with cranes) are separate types.

    Supports: Attests tsuki-boshi / 月星 (e.g. Tsunoda). Also draws nichi-getsu (Watanabe), moon-on-fan, and moon-and-cloud with cranes as separate types. A clean standalone mikazuki caption was not found on the NDL-copy name-list.
