Historical meaning
Circles appear within some early-modern ritual-magic manuscripts as parts of operations defined by particular names, figures and instructions; their historical function came from that full textual setting, not circular geometry alone.
Scholarly interpretation
Repeated rings can suggest enclosure, cycles or focus to a modern viewer, but they do not automatically create a seal or talisman. The design uses excess to question when reinforcement becomes restriction or isolation.
