Historical Context
Pontoppidan described the kraken as immense, round, flat, and furnished with arms or branches, while later illustrators increasingly modelled it on cephalopods. A closed tentacle ring is not an attested Scandinavian sign. This seal is a contemporary composition.
Provenance: Modern circular seal derived from early modern kraken description and later squid and octopus imagery.
Context note: The ring should not be confused with an ancient sailor's charm or with the biology of a specific cephalopod species.
