Editorially reviewedWilliam Young was a Bristol grocer who served as mayor in 1555–56. Archaeological recording of his house identifies his merchant mark between personal initials and distinguishes it from the nearby Grocers’ Company arms.
Provenance: Recorded in carved panelling from William Young’s Bristol house, where his name, initials, merchant mark and the Grocers’ Company arms appear in separate panels.
