Historical Context
The kraken is strongly shaped by early modern Scandinavian sea-monster accounts, especially Pontoppidan's eighteenth-century description of a vast, many-armed creature. Later art made it squid- or octopus-like. This isolated arm emblem belongs to that modern visual reception.
Provenance: Contemporary tentacle emblem informed by Norwegian kraken literature and later cephalopod imagery.
Context note: Distinguishes legendary ship-destroying scale from real giant squid and does not merge unrelated maritime traditions.
