Historical Context

Greek artists repeatedly used the frontal Gorgon face or gorgoneion, often with tusks, protruding tongue, and snake hair. Surviving pottery confirms the mask-like circular treatment. This seal is a modern redraw and does not reproduce a particular vase or ancient seal matrix.

Provenance: Contemporary seal derived from the documented frontal gorgoneion in Attic art.

Context note: Distinguishes the wider class of Gorgons from later retellings focused only on Medusa.
