Historical Context
Editorially reviewedGreek artists repeatedly used the frontal Gorgon face or gorgoneion, often with tusks, protruding tongue, and snake hair. Surviving pottery confirms the mask-like circular treatment. This seal is a modern redraw and does not reproduce a particular vase or ancient seal matrix.
Provenance: Contemporary seal derived from the documented frontal gorgoneion in Attic art.
Context note: Distinguishes the wider class of Gorgons from later retellings focused only on Medusa.

Gorgon Mask Seal
The ancient gorgoneion confronts the viewer head-on: staring eyes, bared teeth, tongue and snakes turn the face itself into a warning. This modern seal preserves that directness as an emblem of protection, danger and defiance.
