Historical Context

Kerberos or Cerberus guarded the Greek Underworld, and ancient sources disagree over whether the dog had two, three, or many heads. The gate association is therefore grounded in the creature's role, but this symmetrical mark is not copied from an ancient Greek object.

Provenance: Contemporary gate emblem based on the documented guardian role of Kerberos.

Context note: Uses the Greek Underworld context specifically and does not collapse it into later Christian images of hell.
