The emblem appears in Master Mason instruction, funeral observance, certificates, monuments, and commemorative art. Its precise botanical species is less important to the documented Masonic tradition than its ritual role as an evergreen sign of remembrance and continuity.

Provenance: Acacia has biblical associations through the wood called shittim in English translations. The sprig became established in modern Masonic ritual and monitorial imagery, including nineteenth-century certificates and memorial compositions.
